LAHORE: The cheques of Rs 13 million submitted by two steel mills owned by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Mian Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan for the payment of sales tax to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were dishonoured by bank due to insufficient balance.
As per details, two steel mills include Sadiq Iron and Steel mills, and Rehman Steel Mills presented cheques to clear the dues. When the FBR officials reached the bank concerned, but the cheques were bounced.
Following the dishonour of cheques, Commissioner Inland Revenue, Asim Majeed started action against the owner and directors of mills namely Mian Iqbal and Mian Jaleel-ur-Rehman to recover the payable taxes.
