ISLAMABAD: The Rapid Response Force (RRF) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad impounded a passenger bus with a big quantity of smuggled fabrics and other goods along with an offending vehicle (Vehicle used for carrying smuggled goods) worth Rs2.611million.
According to Deputy Collector Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad, Collector MCC Dr. Arslan, on a tip-off, constituted a squad under the supervision of Shahrukh Butt (Customs House Office) who intercepted a passenger bus with registration No: LES-8839 near Kalar Kahar on Motorway. The RRF intercepted the said vehicle after chasing it for two hours.
She said the goods seized comprises ladies suiting polyester cloths of 638 kilogram, ladies Dupata cloths weighed 204 kilogram, four air-conditioners and 50 kilogram of black tea. The value of the confiscated goods is Rs0.611million whereas estimated value of the impounded offending vehicle is Rs2.00million. An FIR has been lodged against the possessor of the seized goods and the offending vehicle.
The case has been transferred to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department for further investigation.
The deputy collector told CT that the RRF squad comprised Shahrukh Butt, Muhammad Adil, Syed Muzzamil Shah, Akram, Shauqat and Riaz who carried out the above said seizure.
