KARACHI: The country has spent foreign exchange worth $333.7 million on import of mobile phones and other telecom apparatus in first three months of current fiscal year, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Saturday.
The foreign exchange spend on the import of mobile phones and other telecom apparatus is 22 percent higher than when compared with the amount of $274 million in the corresponding months of the last year.
The country imported mobile phones worth $190.79 million during July – September 2017 as compared with $146.56 million in the same period of the last year, posting a growth of 30.18 percent.
Similarly, the import of telecom apparatus also grew by 12.23 percent to $143 million as against $127.33 million.
