LISBON: The first round of Pakistan-Portugal Bilateral Consultations has been held at Lisbon. Additional Foreign Secretary Iftikhar Aziz led the Pakistan delegation while Political Director Francisco Durate Lopes led the Portuguese side.
The two sides discussed a wide range of issues including trade, investment, defence and cultural cooperation, people-to-people contacts and parliamentary exchanges with focus on enhancing cooperation in these areas.
Iftikhar Aziz gave a briefing on grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He also highlighted Pakistan’s strong credentials for the membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group. The Portuguese side acknowledged the important role being played by Pakistan in promoting regional peace.
