KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) are the defaulters of the property tax being collected by the Excise and Taxation Department of the Sindh government, Customs Today has learnt.
Director Excise and Taxation Sindh Shabir Shaikh told Customs Today that the PIA office located at ST-1/1 Block 15, Gulshan-e-Iqbal has to pay an outstanding dues under the head of property tax that reached Rs 2,720,184.
Besides, M/s Wapda office located at ST 1/5 Block K North Nazimabad was also the defaulter of property tax since past couple of year. The amount outstanding has reached at Rs 2,154,280.
“The property tax is levied and collected under the Sindh Urban Immovable Property Tax Act, 1958. And a uniform rate of tax is levied on all categories of properties at 25 percent of annual rental value”, Shabir Shaikh added.
