KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs seized 16 tons of poppy seeds from a container of an export consignment at the Karachi Port.
Sources in the Customs Intelligence and the Customs Export Collectorate got a tip-off that drug peddlers were trying to smuggle a huge quantity of drugs to The Netherlands via sea.
One team each from the two departments was deployed at the Karachi and Bin Qasim ports. At the Karachi port, a team searched a container and found 16 tons of poppy seeds in it. The seeds are worth an estimated Rs50 million in the international market.
