PESHAWAR: Collector Modal Custom Collectorate(MCC) Qurban Ali said that Pakistan Customs and Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) is using digital technology with latest equipment to facilitate the import and export process at various entry/exit points and airports.
He said this while addressing a function in Peshawar. He said that the World Customs Organization put the theme of this year as Data Analysis for Effective Border Management. He said that data analysis means to utilize the latest technology for collection of customs and revenue through internet technology.
He maintained that data analysis has eased the process of customs and through use of information technology customs administration has facilitated the customers with best of their abilities, which has improved the overall performance of the department.
He added that in last three years FBR has used computer technology through PRAL which is sub-department of the FBR. Similarly WeBoC is another feather in the cape of Pakistan Customs through which it has linked the export and import via internet process.
Commenting on border management, Collector Qurban Ali Khan said that for better border management and controlling of smuggling, the customs department has installed scanners which easily check the luggage of the passengers traveling from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan Customs would keep up the efforts to further digitalis the customs to facilitate the masses. He said that MCC Peshawar this year distributed shields and awards among the employees who demonstrated good performance.
