KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) officials seized more than three tons (3130 kilograms) of hashish worth $50 million in international market bound for the Middle East from Pasni -Balochistan.
On receiving information from intelligence sources regarding smuggling of a sizeable quantity of narcotics in general area Pasni, three special mobile teams were constituted for snap checking, said a statement on Tuesday.
During operation, the PCG officials spotted a suspicious oil tanker along with a Toyota double cabin vehicle. A detailed search of the vehicles resulted in the recovery of 3130kg of hashish and arrested three drug traffickers.
As per initial investigation, it has been found that seized hashish was destined for Middle East and Europe through the sea. It may be mentioned that one of the arrested accused had been on the list of wanted traffickers since long.
Further investigation and legal process is underway.
