RAWALPINDI: The bilateral ties between Pakistan and Romania could be strengthened by intensifying people to people contacts. Commercial Counselors at Romanian embassy are available round the clock to facilitate all efforts meant for cementing of ties and addressing queries related to the business delegations.
This was said by Ambassador of Romania Nicolae Goia while addressing the first formal meeting of Pakistan Romania Forum (PRF) held at the residence of President of the Forum Zahid Maqbool.
The Romanian ambassador welcomed the establishment of the Forum and hoped it would work earnestly for promotion of bilateral as well as people to people contacts.
He said Romania offered huge business opportunities to businessmen. During his visits to various chambers of commerce and industry and interactions with the members of business community he gave detailed briefings about different avenues of cooperation that existed between the two countries.
Addressing the Forum members, The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Zahid Latif Khan, who was invited as a special guest on the occasion, said that the trade volume between Pakistan and Romania is not promising and efforts should be made to achieve immediate and durable results in this field. He said PRF will serve as a platform to boost bilateral trade ties between Pakistan and Romania business community. He said that RCCI had been striving to find out new ways for increasing exports. Possible joint ventures can be made in different sectors like pharmaceutical, poultry, gems and jewelry, textile and marble. RCCI will work closely with chamber of commerce of Romania and expressed hope that a business delegation will be taken to Romania to explore new markets, he added.
President of the Forum Zahid Maqbool, in his remarks assured the Romanian embassy that the PRF would live up to the expectations as it is composed of serious and mature people hailing from various walks of life.
He further said all efforts shall be made to convince Pakistani businessmen to go to Romania and explore business opportunities there. He also welcomed President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zahid Latif who attended the PRF meeting as a special guest.
