PESHAWAR: The Pakistan-Afghan trade activities have increased in November which is clear from the volume of income that is Rs1204.73million collected by the Torkham Customs Station in 29 days of current month in FY2017-18.
The sources told Customs Today on Thursday that about 8,000 to 9,000 people cross Torkham Border into Pakistan each day which has been adding a good amount of revenue to the collection of the MCC Peshawar each day.
The people cross into Pakistan on certain days reach 15,000 to 20,000 which increases the business activities on Torkham side of the Khyber Agency.
Due to restriction applied by the Pakistan Customs to produce visa for entry into Pakistan, now the Afghan nationals are following the new trend and providing visa documents at border check-post. The customs staff at the Torkham Customs Station further informed Customs Today that the Deputy Collector Torkham Customs Station has directed the border staff to facilitate the Afghan nationals once they produce required documents. The Torkham Customs Station collected Rs502.78million as Customs Duty in 29 days of November also including Rs264.46Sale Tax. An amount of Rs28.19million has been collected under the head of ST on VM cum imports and Rs2.49million done under the head of ST on VM palm oil.
The Torkham Customs Station has generated Rs317.50million AIT and Rs83.31million done as AIT on exports.
The Deputy Collector Customs has lauded the revenue collection made by the Torkham Customs Station in the current month of November.
