TORKHAM: The Pak-Afghan Torkham border remained closed for imports or exports during Eid holidays.
According to details told by official sources of Pak-Afghan International Border (Torkham) that all the vigilance squads worked properly during Eid holidays while DCs and ACs also conducted surprise visits for checking of staff during holidays.
The sources told that Torkham Customs staff cleared imports and exports Goods Declarations (GDs) of fruits and vegetables during Eid holidays while other imported and exported items will be cleared after Eid holidays.
Sources told that ASO has given special task to launch crackdown on notorious elements whereas the Torkham Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) made big seizures of narcotics and international currency during last quarter of Fiscal Year 2017-18.
The ASO Torkham under guidance of Collector Saeed Khan Jadoon ensured tighter vigilance on Pak-Afghan border to discourage notorious activities.
Sources told that ASO Torkham is working day and night to protect the border while pursuing the orders of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the customs staff is launching crackdown on drug dealers, gold smugglers and possessors of non-duty paid vehicles (NDP) as well as against tax evaders.
