ISLAMABAD: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday directed the Secretary Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to provide detailed briefing on award of contract to Habib Rafiq Private Limited for construction work of passenger terminal building of Multan airport within one week.
The PAC meeting was held here under the supervision of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, including members Dr Azra Afzal Pechuho, Syed Naveed Qamar, Raja Javaid Ikhlas, Sheikh Roheel Asghar, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Mehmood Khan Achakzei, Sardar Aashiq Gopang, Muhammad Junaid Anwaar Chaudhry, Dr Arif Alvi, Shafqat Mehmood, Sardar Jaffar Khan Laghari and discussed the Audit Paras of the Aviation Division (Civil Aviation Authority) for the year 2010-11.
Earlier, the PAC was told by the audit officials that a loss of Rs 222.9 million was faced to national exchequer due to award of work of Rs 3,171.5 million for construction of passenger terminal building of Multan airport, said a press release.
The PAC while discussing the ‘Audit Objection’ over Sub-standard and poor performance black listed the Project Management Consultant ECIL Limited.
The Chairman PAC also issued direction to the Planning Division to include a column of rebate in tender documents.
The Secretary, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Ali Muhammad Gardezi told the committee that report of inquiry regarding purchase of Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles has been submitted to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The PAC directed the CAA to complete the departmental inquiry in the case of irregular award of license agreements amounting to Rs 2,184.75million loss within one week, after which case would be referred to the FIA which will submit its report in twenty days.
