ISLAMABAD: Sub-Committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday directed Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to conduct departmental audit regarding oil and gas theft and present report within two weeks.
The Sub-Committee was convened here by Syed Naveed Qamar to review the inquiry on media reports regarding oil and gas theft from different blocks of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and other areas of the country.
Secretary Petroleum informed the committee that some employees of the different oil companies were found involved in oil and gas theft, resulted in a loss of billions of rupees.
He further informed that the ministry had inquired the matter and lodged seven First Information Reports (FIRs) against those involved in an illegal activity.
Syed Naveed Qamar said that the ministry could not trace out the actual accused so far that showed the flaws in inquiry process; therefore, he directed the ministry to conduct departmental audit in order to reach the conclusion.
Directing further he said that the report should be submitted to the committee within next fifteen days and then the matter would be re-discussed.
