LAHORE: The overseas promoters in Punjab have demanded the government exempt 16 percent service taxes and general sales tax on manpower export and grant the status of industry to manpower export.
Talking to the media persons, the leaders of overseas promoters, including Chaurdhry Attaur Rehman, Haji Umer Daraz, Shahid Mehmood, Syed Bashir Bahadur Khan and others said the overseas employment promoters were already paying Rs 20,000 tax on sending a person abroad. Further taxation would put negative impact on their business, they added.
They said Punjab government has imposed 16 percent tax on overseas exports which is discrimination against them. Textile and other industry enjoy exemptions of tax but overseas promoters have been taxed.
They said overseas Pakistanis are backbone of country’s economy. They urged government to take immediate notice of shutting down of their offices in Punjab by Punjab Revenue Authority and stopping the recovery from promoters by freezing their accounts. With such tactics their credibility is being eroded.
