ISLAMABAD: The Electronic Import Form (EIF) Module in WeBOC (Web Based One Custom) is developed in consultation with all the stakeholders, including importers, clearing agents, bankers, etc.
This was stated by Chief Collector North Region Sarwat Tahira Habib during an exclusive interview with Customs Today. She said that overall the North region has performed quite well in the first quarter of FY 2016-17, keeping in view the closure of Torkham border and initial problems in smooth clearances, specifically at border stations due to roll out of EIF Module.
The North region is able to collect Rs 2,610 million under the head of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs 2,585 million whereas total tax collection stood at Rs 7,543 million during the reported period against the assigned target of Rs 7,563 million.
She said that Collectorate wise revenue analysis also indicates growth vis-à-vis last year and assigned target as well, during July-Sep 2016, Collectorate collected Rs 506 million as customs duty against assigned target of Rs 281 million.
She added that the Collectorate also surpassed its sales tax target by 66%, as it collected Rs372 million against the target of Rs 224 million. As far as collection of all taxes is concerned, Customs Gilgit Baltistan has successfully achieved its assigned target of Rs 597 million by collecting Rs. 1025 million (72% higher) and 86% higher than the tax collection during July-Sep, 2015.
Regarding collection of Customs Islamabad she said that during July, 2016 to September, 2016 Customs Collectorate, Islamabad collected Rs. 1120 million customs duty against the target of Rs. 1119 million. The Collectorate also collected Rs. 1130 million sales tax against the target of Rs. 1017 million.
The withholding tax collection of the Collectorate remained Rs. 594 against the target of Rs. 633 million, overall revenue collection of the Collectorate during 1st Quarter of FY 2016-17 was Rs. 2916 million against the assigned target of Rs. 2829 million.
Replying to a query about Peshawar Collectorate during July, 2016 to September, She said that during 2016 Customs Collectorate, Peshawar collected Rs. 1542 million customs duty against the target of Rs. 1754 million, however, the Collectorate lags behind in its Sales Tax target for the subject period, as it collected Rs. 1397 million against the target of Rs. 1661 million.
As far withholding tax collection is concerned she said that Customs Peshawar collected Rs. 1089 million against the assigned target of Rs. 1102 million, the Collectorate could not achieve its overall target for the 1st quarter of FY 2016-17 as it has been able to collect Rs. 4063 million against the assigned target of Rs. 4583 million.
Regarding Customs Collectorate Sambrial she told that for 1st quarter of FY 2016-17, the target assigned to the Collectorate was Rs. 446 million, whereas Customs Sambrial forwarded Rs. 642.86 million rebate claims vis-à-vis total rebate of Rs. 638.02 million during July-Sep, 2015 enhancing the amount by Rs. 4.84 million.
The chief collector expressed her satisfaction on performance of North region regarding collection during first quarter of financial year 2016-17 and said that she is fully hopeful that North region will achieve its revenue target as achieved in last financial year 2016-17.
She said that anti smuggling activity is going on very well under supervision of Collectors of Collectorates like Peshawar, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and Samberial, car cells are also conducting crack down against non-duty paid vehicles.
