LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday summoned Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on May 14 on a petition against non-payment of compensation of land acquired by the government for a trust.
The court also summoned former senior member of Board of Revenue Ishfaq Tarar on next date of hearing.
Justice Ibad ur Rehman Lodhi passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Institute of Islamic Culture.
During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel arguing before the court submitted that the government acquired two kanals and ten marlas land of the petitioner-Institute for Nazria Pakistan Trust. But despite the court orders, the government is not making the payment of the land, he added.
Additional Secretary Revenue Ali Tahir Hamdani submitted that the land was acquired on recommendations of the senior member of Board of Revenue Ishfaq Tarar.
However, a law officer failed to satisfy court on non-payment of the compensation. At this, the court summoned Punjab chief minister and former senior member of the board on May 14 besides adjourning the matter.
