HELSINKI: Nokia Corp. (NOK) and its design partner HMD Global are gearing up to roll out six or seven Nokia-branded smartphones this year, up from plans to release five mobile phones.
HMD Global is a Finland-based company founded earlier this year by former Nokia personnel. According to a report in GSM Arena, the telecom news website, the Android phones will cover all segments of the market from entry-level devices to high-end smartphones. The report noted the Nokia TA-1000/E1 may be one of the first to arrive in 2017. The plans were reportedly revealed via a slideshow presentation by Avaxx, a Malaysian distributor.
