TOKYO: Divers inspecting the sunken vessel, MV Suilven have confirmed that no light diesel oil was leaking from the ship after it ran aground.
In a statement, Transport and Infrastructure Ministry permanent secretary Francis Kean said the dive team identified two fuel tanks confirmed to be carrying light diesel oil by the ship owner.
“Dive operations included the drilling of holes into these two fuel tanks to determine the presence of light diesel oil,” Mr Kean said.
“Three holes were drilled into each fuel tank. It was confirmed by the divers that no light diesel oil was leaking from these six holes.”
