FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has taken into possession a smuggled Toyota Corolla car priced at Rs1million involving duties and taxes of Rs350000.
Sources told Customs Today that, on a tip-off, the ASO special team set up a picket at a designated place and intercepted a non-duty-paid Toyota Corolla car bearing registration No: LEH 17-4457, Model 1993, near Chak-57 Faisalabad.
The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle namely Mian Maqsood son of Abdul Rahman to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed do so.
The team impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s) read with SRO 566(1) 2005 section 16, 18, 157, 168, and 178 of the Customs Act-1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act-1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance-2001 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
The team consisted of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspectors Faizi Raza and Waqas Ali, Sepoys Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, Zulfiqar Ali Wahla and others who took part in the operation.
