ISLAMABAD: The Customs Car Cell Islamabad impounded a Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) Toyota Surf due to fake documentation. The said NDP vehicle was taken into possession from Bara Kahu and its value is estimated at Rs2.5million.
According to details given by Assistant Collector Car Cell Majid Hussain Gadd that, on an actionable tip-off shared by Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, the Car Cell formed a squad and conducted a raid on Bara Kahu where the NDP vehicle was roaming with a fake registration plate No: LEC-15-3773. The Car Cell intercepted the vehicle and asked the possessor to show any legal document but he failed to provide anything like that except a book which was proven bogus after verification.
Assistant Collector said that, after the firsthand investigation, the Car Cell impounded the vehicle and brought it to the state warehouse. An FIR has been lodged against the owner of the NDP vehicle of model 1999. The vehicle has been taken into possession under the Customs Act-1969 and the documents of the vehicle sent for further examination to the Investigation and Prosecution Department.
The customs staff, which took action against the vehicle, comprised Inspector Ch. Safdar and Sepey Bilal Yaqoob and staff of the Class IV.
