KIEV: Inflation rate accelerated up to 16.4% in Ukraine in September 2017 due to a quick rise in prices for raw food products, higher production costs and a certain revival in consumer demand.
Acting Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smoliy said this at the briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. “Consumer inflation rate in September 2017 accelerated to 16.4% on a year-on-year basis and exceeded the forecast of the National Bank. The reasons for this were the quick rise in prices for raw food products, increase in production costs and a certain revival in consumer demand. As in the previous months, the prices for fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy products zoomed up at a fast rate because of the supply-side factors on the domestic market,” Smoliy said.
