ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice ® Javed Iqbal has said that NAB is working on a strategy to recover looted money and bring back those corrupt people who run away after looting billions of rupees. He said that NAB is working seriously on this strategy.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at NAB headquarters to review the performance of operations and prosecution divisions. He said that we are working to route-out corruption from our society and anyone who found involved in corruption will be dealt with iron hands.
National Accountability Bureau chairman said that “our aim is to make Pakistan corruption free and we consider this as our national duty”. He directed all officials to work honestly and devotedly and purely on merit . NAB is performing according to law and without any pressure.
He said that people’s confidence is increasing day by day because 60400 complaints were received by NAB from last 18 months and we are reviewing these complaints. He said that after scrutiny 2500 complaints were selected while 1159 inquiries and 404 investigations approved, 610 corruption references were filed in the courts which are being heard nowadays.
NAB recovered Rs5000 million from corrupt persons and deposited in national kitty. The percentage of punishment stood at 70.8 percent which is clearly an example.
National Accountability Bureau chairman directed all regional bureaus to pursue cases with solid evidences so all mega corruption cases must conclude with logical end with recovery of looted amount. Chairman said that business community is backbone for progress and prosperity of our country. He said that NAB established special complaints cell in all its regional offices to address the grievances of traders.
Businessmen also lauded the performance of NAB under the leadership of Justice ® Javed Iqbal and assured their full support and cooperation in discharging their duties according to law.
