KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB- Karachi) has organized an awareness seminar and walk as part of its “Awareness Campaign against Corruption”.
The event was organised in collaboration with Institute of Business Management, Korangi Creek. NAB Director General Mohammad Altaf Bawany was the chief guest on the occasion while Talib Kareem, President, Institute of Business Management and various other notables from academia also participated.
Addressing the ceremony, NAB DG underlined the role of youth in eradication of corruption from society. He said, responsibility heavily lies on the shoulders of our youth to become part of struggle to root out corruption. In this regard, he said NAB has formed Character Building Societies at schools, colleges and universities level and in the spirit of prevention of corruption rather than enforcement, various Government departments are also being reached out.
He dilated upon irregularities and malpractices prevalent in various Universities for which NAB recently issued an advisory, a document containing advices on streamlining matters of appointments and financial matters in accordance with law and rules. NAB would conduct appraisal for implementation of its advice.NAB DG said that teachers can play an important role to purge this society of menace of corruption, nepotism and culture of bribery by training the youth, imparting education and character building.
He also reiterated NAB’s commitment in eradication of corruption from society, with zero tolerance policy towards corruption and proactive approach of “Accountability for All” under leadership of NAB Chairman Justice ® Javed Iqbal.Senior Officers from NAB and Faculty Members and students participated in the awareness walk.
