ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held under the chairmanship of Qamar Zaman Chaudhry at the NAB Headquarters, Islamabad.
The meeting decided to file a corruption reference against Muhammad Jalal, Ex-Secretary Health, Dr Naseer Ahmad Baloch, Additional Secretary, Dr Abdul Baqi Durrani, Head of Medicine and others. In this case, the accused allegedly misused authority causing a loss of more than Rs 10,29 million to the government coffers.
The meeting decided to authorise six inquiries into cases that resulted in huge monetary losses to the national exchequer.
The inquiries included one against Fareed Mughees Sheikh, Director of Colony Group of Companies (Ex-Director of Bank of Punjab).
Another inquiry was authorised against Gohar Ejaz, CEO & others, Ejaz Spinning Mills Ltd & Ejaz Textiles Mills Ltd Lahore (Ex-Director of Bank of Punjab).
A separate inquiry was authorised against Naeem Akhtar, Director Planning and Development and Dr Muhammad Ali, Treasurer, Federal Urdu University and Naeem Akhtar, Director Planning & Development. Another inquiry was authorised against authorities of NHA and others.
Also, an inquiry was authorised against directors/guarantors of M/s Fajar Rice Mills (Pvt) Ltd, (Bank Islami Pakistan Case – formerly KASB Bank Ltd).
The EBM also decided to authorise three investigations.
The First investigation was authorised against officers of State Bank of Pakistan, namely Farhat Saeed, Ex-Executive Dir (FRM), Muhammad Bilal Ch. Ex-Director Engg, Muhammad Sorahb Abbasi, Ex-Chief Manager, Lahore, Abuzar Shad, Muhammad Nauman Sultan Piracha and others.
The second investigation was authorised against Iftikhar Rahim, Secretary Workers Welfare Fund for misuse of authority and Officers/Officials of WWB and contractor regarding corruption and corrupt practices.
The third investigation was authorised against Prof. Khawaja Alqama, Vice Chancellor, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Malik Munir Hussain, Registrar, Multan, Munir Ahmed Bhatti, Chairman BZU Lahore Campus and others.
