MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) has started imposing fine penalty to tax defaulters of existing and former Station House Officer (SHOs) of police department for not filing their income tax returns.
Sources told Customs Today that the Regional Tax Office has issued several income tax notices to almost 30 Station House Officer (SHOs) of the different police stations in the jurisdiction. Tax authorities of Regional Tax Office observed that police officers are reluctant in filing their income taxes returns. Regional Tax Office has served notices to police SHOs for not filing their tax returns and these SHOs were directed to file their income tax returns immediately.
About 22 SHOs of various police stations has filed their tax returns after the warning of Regional tax authorities and tax authorities has imposed fine to 22 various Station House Officer for filing their returns late. Regional Tax Office has also imposed fine to 18 various SHO,s for filing their income tax returns late.
There are still eight existing and former SHOs of different police stations have not filed their Income tax returns to Regional Tax Office Multan for the calendar year 2017-18. Regional tax authorities of Multan has also wrote to City Police Officer Multan Sarfraz Ahmad Falki for seeking cooperation in the filing of tax returns from SHO,s and CPO have also directed all SHO,s to file their income tax as soon as possible.
