MULTAN: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) identified more than 800 non-filers working in different multinational companies and organizations.
Regional Tax Office along with Broadening of Tax Base (BTB) traced more than 800 employees working in different private firms and organization and these employees were deputed at executive posts but they are also non-filer and avoid filing income tax returns on their earnings.
The Federal Board of Revenue has issued them tax notices asking them to ensure filing of income tax returns for employees earning taxable income. Tax authorities asked Organizations to advise their non-filers for statutory tax obligations without further delay by e-filing the return of income tax year 2018 in order to avoid any unwanted situation.
Sources informed Customs Today that said non-filer employees have been sent tax notices under section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, employees earning taxable income and they were required to file their income tax returns and the compliance with provision of law was essential to enable documentation of economy.
The Federal Board of Revenue has asked non-filers employees and their organizations to ensure compliance of filing of income tax return and they could file income tax return up to August 2, 2019 till the last date announced by the Federal Board of Revenue for filing of income tax returns.
