MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) seized huge quantity of foreign origin ceramic tiles worth Rs.15 millions in their action.
According to details, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Dr. Muhammad Adnan Akram received credible information from his source that a truck loaded with imported ceramic tiles will transport huge quantity of ceramic tiles in Multan through Dera Ghazi Khan Region.
Director Customs Intelligence constituted special squad to carry out action against them and Inspector Muhammad Umer, Inspector Zafar, Muhammad Javed Bhatti and others took part in the action.
Following the instructions of the director, the team took special measures and started surveillance of suspected routes for recovery of ceramic tiles.
Customs Intelligence team intercepted a suspected truck near Bahawalpur Bypass Road.
Customs teams found that recovered ceramic tiles was Iran origin.
Customs Intelligence asked the drivers of the trucks to produce legal documents of recovered ceramic tiles but they failed to produce any import documents of the recovered tiles to justify their legal possession.
Customs Intelligence teams seized 3200 square feet ceramic tiles during their action by framing seizure report under Customs Act 1969.The value of seized ceramic tiles was almost Rs.15 million.
Further Investigation against seized ceramic tiles was still under process.
