MULTAN: The Collectorate of Customs sold out foreign origin fresh apples consignment in Rs.1.1 million during auction here.
According to details, Multan Customs announced auction of seized consignment of foreign origin fresh apples through open bidding held in the Customs Dry Port. The auction of fresh apples was held under the supervision of Assistant Collector Muhammad Ikram.
Huge number of bidders from fruit market participated in the auction of fresh apples at Multan Dry Port. Bidders were offered foreign origin apples at a cheaper rate than market price. The seized apples were sold out at Rs47 per kilograms after receiving highest offer from bidder
Intercepted apples were auctioned after two days because they are perishable items and Multan Customs has also conducted auction of these seized foreign origin apples.
It is pertinent to mention here that Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted a container loaded with huge quantity of fresh Iranian origin apples. Said loaded container was coming from Quetta through Dera Ghazi Khan routes and its destination was Islamabad. The total weights of seized apples were almost 23,000 kilograms. Local fruit sellers from fruit market purchased consignment of fresh apples after successful bid of Rs1.1 million.
