Multan Customs seizes foreign origin excavator during crackdown

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded a foreign origin excavator due to import policy violation from Multan region on Wednesday 10.7.2017.

According to details, Collector Customs Ambreen Tarar received information that non-customs paid machinery of a construction company was under operation. Multan Customs formed a special team led by Inspector Muhammad Altaf Kareem, Inspector Ayyaz Mahmood, Muhammad Irfan Qureshi, Kaleem ulllah and others to take action.

Customs anti-smuggling staff started checking of the machinery under operation to detect said machinery in the surrounding areas of Qadir Pur Rawan.

Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad detected the suspected excavator near the surrounding areas of Multan during their patrolling and asked the driver to produce legal documents to justify its legal possession. The customs staff detained the Hitachi Excavator after proper examination.

The Hitachi excavator driver told anti-smuggling staff that they provide construction machinery on the rent to builders on their demand for construction work.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization found that excavator was imported against the import policy of Customs and decided to seize it due to violation of import policy and seized under Customs act 1969.

The model of the foreign origin seized Hitachi Excavator is 1999.The worth of the seized crane by Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization is almost Rs3 million and duty taxes of Rs2.5 million. Further investigations were still under progress against the seized excavator.
