MULTAN: The Customs Collectorate recovery branch has issued attachment warrants of a defaulter company namely M/s Mehak Soap Industries for the recovery of outstanding amount of Rs273047.
The customs issued several recovery notices to M/s Mehak Soap Industries located near Water Works Road, Multan, for the payment of recoverable taxes pending from almost two years. The recovery department of Multan Customs intimated the defaulter company a couple of times to clear the pending and outstanding but it remained reluctant to deposit the dues.
Assistant Collector Muhammad Ikram Customs Dry Port , who is also recovery officer, has decided to attach their moveable and immovable properties and bank accounts in order to recover the outstanding dues from defaulter company.
The company cleared consignments from Multan Dry Port at the time of clearance and paid short duty and Customs Adjudication has issued Order- in-Original no.152/2015 dated 29 May 2015 and directed Multan Dry Port to calculate duty tax and additional duty which will be calculated at the time of deposit of the principal amount. So, the importer filed an appeal against the Customs Adjudication decision that was quashed by the court. Therefore, the Multan Customs has initiated stern action against the company to recover the outstanding dues.
Superintendent Muhammad Yousaf Baloch has been given the task of attachment officer for recovery of outstanding amount under Customs Rules, 2001. The Multan Customs will also attach bank accounts of defaulter for recovery under Section 202 of Customs Act, 1969.
