MULTAN: Customs Collectoarte anti-smuggling squad has impounded smuggled Hino truck frame from Chowk Maitla during an action.
According to details, After receiving credible information Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar directed Assistant Collector Omer Bin Zafar Chatha to take action against smuggled body frames of truck.
Assistant Collector Omer Bin Zafar Chatha formed a special team comprising Inspector Muhammad Ramzan Seyal, Inspector Abdul Samad, Inspector Ghulam Asghar and others. The customs anti-smuggling team was alerted and they started patrolling of the suspected routes in order to foil their attempt of smuggling.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted the truck which was loaded with the frames of Hino truck near Chowk Maitla. Customs anti-smuggling teams asked the driver to produce import documents of the Hino truck frame but he failed to produce any import documents to prove their legal possession. After failure of providing any legal documents Customs staff seized the frame.
The value of the seized Hino frame was around Rs4 million and its customs duty was almost Rs2.5 million. Multan Customs has impounded the truck frames under Section 157 (2) of the Customs Act 1969.
