MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded foreign origin Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs.3 million from Multan city in their action.
According to details, Multan Customs received information that foreign origin vehicle is moving on the roads of Multan city. Deputy Collector Saqibur Rehman formed special teams including Inspector Muhammad Saleem, Inspector Khalid Hussain, Mutaza Jamshaid, Muhammad Hashim and Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz to detain the non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser.
Multan Customs started patrolling in the city and anti-smuggling squad enhanced the monitoring to impound non duty paid vehicle. Customs team intercepted the suspected vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration number AQ-976/Quetta of Model 1998. Driver of the said vehicle was asked to produce documents of the vehicle to justify possession of the vehicle but he failed to produce any import document. Anti-Smuggling Squad seized the vehicle worth Rs3 million involving duty taxes of Rs.3 million.
Anti-Smuggling Organization seized the smuggled vehicle under section 156(i) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and shifted the vehicle in the Multan Customs Office. Further investigations were still underway.
