MULTAN: Customs Collectorate collected Rs2203.082 million during the month of August of current Financial Year 2018-19.
According to details, Multan Customs collected Rs654.850 million against Rs961 million collected in wake of customs duty during August 2018-19. Customs Collectorate observed decline in collection customs duty during August due to Eid-ul-Azha holidays and missed the collection target due to less clearances of import shipments at Multan Dry Port. While the Collectorate was able to collect Rs780.800 million under the head of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs431.320 million during the month of August during corresponding fiscal year 2017-18.
On the other hand Collectorate collected Rs.2751.473 million in wake of sales tax in the corresponding economic year 2017-18. Sales tax collection has witnessed less collection due to less clearances of shipments at dry port.
Sources told Customs Today that revenue collection of Multan Customs is directly linked with clearance of consignments from Multan Dry Port and due to less clearance of consignments the revenue collection was also reduced in the August. The Collectorate collected Rs4.62 million under the head of federal excise duty (FED) during August 2018-19.
Multan Customs collected Rs6.441 million against R.8 million in wake of withholding tax (WHT) in August 2018-19. While Multan Customs collected Rs7.681 million under the head of income tax in matching period of financial year 2017-18.It made collection of Rs0.908 million under the head of additional sales tax for the duration of August.
However, Multan Customs collected Rs2203.082 million under the head of customs duty, sales tax, federal excise duty (FED) and withholding tax (WHT) during August 2018-19.
