MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized foreign origin ceramic tiles worth Rs1.2 million during operation.
According to details, Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman Warraich received credible information from his source that a truck loaded with imported ceramic tiles will transport huge quantity of ceramic tiles in Multan from Dera Ghazi Khan Region. Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman constituted special squad to carry out action. The ASO squad comprised Inspector Muhammad Saleem Khan, Inspector Akhtar Hussain, Inspector Abdul Majeed and Rafiq Khan.
Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization took special measures for recovery of ceramic tiles and enhanced patrolling on different suspected routes of Multan by enhancing monitoring of the movement of vehicles to intercept goods.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team searched the suspected truck bearing registration number NAF/997/Quetta near Head Muhammad Wala and recovered huge quantity of Iranian ceramic tiles.
Multan Customs staff asked the driver of the truck to produce legal documents of recovered ceramic tiles but he failed to produce any import documents of the recovered tiles to justify the legal possession.
Customs anti-smuggling squad seized 3321 square feet ceramic tiles packed in the 2050 different cartons during their action by framing seizure report under Customs Act 1969. The value of seized ceramic tiles is almost Rs2 million. Further investigation against seized ceramic tiles is still under process.
