MULTAN: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan bench issued a contempt notice to the Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar, Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Talib Hussain and Inspector Rana Altaf for non-compliance of court orders and directed them to submit comments on contempt application.
The writ petition no.2435/2019 was filed by M/s Muhammad Iqbal resident of Mohallah Khatkhana Multan Cantt through his counsel Advocate Malik Rehan Imtiaz in which he pleaded that Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded his Toyota Vitz Model 1999, bearing chassis number SCP 1030277995 and engine number ISZFE-0053900.
Said vehicle was seized by ASO and forwarded to Additional Collector Talib Hussain for trial and Justice Ameer Bhatti has directed Customs Adjudication to release the said vehicle on 13th February 2019 and Additional Collector Talib Hussain has also directed to release said vehicle but Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar did not obey the directions of Lahore High Court Multan bench and refused to release the vehicle.
Petitioner Muhammad Iqbal filed petition in the Lahore High Court Multan Bench by requesting that Collector Multan Customs Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has lodged unlawful criminal FIR against him. Petitioner requested court that he is a disable person and appeared several times before the collector and requested her for the release of vehicle.
He requested the court that collector has been bound to obey the orders of the honorable court under article 201 of the Constitution of Pakistan but respondent has miserably failed to comply with orders. In view of the facts, court has issued contempt notice for committing the international violation for not handing over the said vehicle by confiscating it.
Multan Customs Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has been directed to file reply to the contempt petition on 12th March 2019.
