MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is one of the top revenue generating departments of the Customs and the Collectorate is generating major portion of revenue due to genuine efforts of Customs Adjudication.
It was stated by Collector Adjudication Asif Khan Buzdar in his exclusive interview with Customs Today. He said that Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is one of the most important collectorates for the generation of revenue in customs, and speedy disposal of seizure cases also generates well-timed revenue for the Collectorate.
He said that Multan Camp Office showed extraordinary performance by concluding hearing of 315 cases worth Rs530.370 million after adjudicating during first seven months of the ongoing economic year 2018-19.
He said that Collectorate of Customs Adjudication is one of the revenue cultivator departments for the customs, providing handsome revenue to Collectorate of Multan Customs by assisting them in accomplishing their set revenue task.
Asif expressed that Customs Adjudication is strengthening the hands of the Collectorate by rectifying their investigative and procedural errors during trial, and Order-in-Originals (ONOs) issued in any case also give opportunity to detecting agency for the exactness.
Customs Adjudication is revenue protector of the Country which discourages smuggling in the country through implementation of their decisions and promotes legitimate trade by protecting rights of genuine importers.
Customs Adjudication Multan is providing speedy justice to everyone by adjudicating their seizure cases, Contraventions and tax evasion cases in time. He told that Customs Adjudication is bound to complete the trial of any seizure, contravention case within 120 days after the issuance of show cause notice to respondents according to set laws and if the trial of any case is not completed in given period due to any reason then the department applies for extension to Federal Board of Revenue.
He said that majority of seizure cases, contravention cases are decided within said time frame due to sincere efforts and commitments of Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office. He said that respondents could represent their cases personally if they have not enough resources, and they also can hire legal consultant for their matter.
Collector Asif Khan Buzdar told that he has concluded 28 different cases worth Rs530.370 million in time during economic year 2017-18. Collector Adjudication said he decided cases which remained unchanged in different courts of appeals filed by respondents because Order-in Originals (ONOs) were issued after observing complete facts in the light of Customs laws, and due to which a single decision has not been reversed yet. He stated that Customs Adjudication is implementing Customs laws in true spirit and letter.
He said that Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office is giving maximum output with its available limited resources.
