MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Talib Hussain has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) to confiscate smuggled Toyota Fielder car.
According to details, Additional Collector Talib Hussain conducted hearing of seizure case of non-duty paid Toyota Fielder car. Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization framed seizure case against unknown owner after seizing vehicle from Dera Ghazi Khan Region.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted a Toyota Fielder car from Sadiqabad bearing registration no:-BBH/300/Sindh, model 2007. The customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
Additional Collector issued a show cause notice to the unknown owner of the non-duty paid vehicle and asked him to appear in person and explain his point of view regarding seizure of vehicle.
No body claimed ownership of said vehicles and did not appear in the Customs Adjudication for hearing. Customs Anti-Smuggling appeared before the Additional Collector and presented evidence of vehicle that it was smuggled one and entered into the country through clandestine routes.
Therefore the foreign origin Toyota Fielder car was detained under Section 2kk and 17 of the Customs Act 1969 read with section 3(1) of the Import and Export Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 of the Customs Act 1969.
Anti-Smuggling Organization asserted in Customs Adjudication that seized car falls in the ambit of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act 1969 while no body appeared in the adjudication to claim ownership of non-customs duty paid vehicle.
Therefore Customs Adjudication Multan Camp Office issued Order-in-Original to confiscate the said smuggled vehicle. The value of the confiscated vehicle was almost Rs2 million involving duty and taxes of Rs1.5 million.
