ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Port & Shipping has sought the record from Karachi Port Trust (KPT) relating to lease of 20.80 acres land allotted to US Consulate in Karachi and received the lease rent and also record of allotment of land for Karachi Port Trust offices to Cooperative Housing Society Karachi for inspection and scrutiny.
According to the sources ministry high ups has learnt to know that there are massive irregularities found in the appointment made in Karachi Port Trust when ministry inquired the matter then astonishing facts unearthed.
A large number of ghost employees was working in KPT. The ministry has asked to Karachi Port Trust to provide the record relating to allotment of land to Defence Housing Authority and land issues with the Sindh government.
The ministry has also directed KPT to provide the detail of appointments made during last five years on regular basis, contract basis, lump sum salary package, stipends, along with complete record i.e. composition of selection committee, rules relating to the appointments made various posts, advertisement, details of sanctioned posts, break up of provincial and regional quota, minutes and recommendations of selection committee and approval of the competent authority.
The ministry has also instructed to KPT to provide details of employees regularized during the last five years along with complete record and list of ghost employees.
It is pertinent to mention here that during 2007, KPT 130 acres land was given to DHA in lieu thereof the DHA has agreed to allot 324 plots to the officers of KPT. Ministry high ups ordered that inquiry should be conducted regarding giving 130 acres land to DHA in lieu of which KPT’s officers obtained plots.
