ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with Minister for Information Technology, Anusha Rehman Khan chaired a high level meeting at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Saturday to ascertain the position regarding filing of e-returns.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar was also present.
The minister the other day had called the meeting, summoning the FBR Member IT Raama Ahmad, chief executive of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) and other IT related officials to discuss difficulties faced by the regular and prospective e-filers and look into their complaints.
Member IT briefed the Finance Minister about the system in place for filing e-returns. She stated that the system was under strain due to a large number of filers frequenting it and measures were being taken to ease the situation.
Dar gave instructions that it was obligation of the IT officials of FBR/PRAL to resolve the difficulties faced by the tax payers. He asked for a regular update on the e-filing issue. It was decided that IT and Telecom ministry would provide assistance to FBR to ensure better IT and e-filing service to the public.
The minister also emphasized efforts to achieve the revenue targets set for the fiscal year 2015 16.
