ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Customs Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has once again directed the heads of Karachi customs to complete the pending inquiry reports against corrupt members of the lower staff as soon possible.
Sources told Customs Today that instruction of the Member Customs have been sent to the heads of Karachi Customs. They are also asked to send their suggestions and recommendations to curb the menace of corruption. This will help the FBR to formulate a new strategy for the field offices, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Karachi based importers have filed complaints against the lower customs staff, including principle appraisers, appraisers and examiners but inquiries are still pending and no decision has been made yet in this regard.
It is also important to mention here that according to some reports, the government incurs billion of rupees losses every year due to corruption in the FBR field formations and now the FBR is in need of taking serious action against those who are weakening the country through corruption.
Member Customs FBR Zahid Khokhar determined to eradicate the corruption from field formations completely and has said many times that there is zero tolerance policy for corruption.
