FAISALABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Customs Dr Jawwad Uwais Agha visited Faisalabad Customs Collectorate along with Chief Collector Customs Zeba Hai to review revenue collection measures.
Member Customs held meeting with Faisalabad Customs Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig, Additional Collector Muhammad Saeed Asad and his team to review revenue collection and enforcement measures. Dr Jawwad stressed upon taking measures to enhance revenue collection specially by focusing on court cases and disposal of confiscated goods through auction.
In his keynote address Jawwad Agha highlighted various steps relating with the taxation and duties initiated by the FBR whereas, during the session, performance report from July 2018 to January 2019 was presented and stressed to adopt comprehensive strategy in order to collect target from February 2019 to June 2019.
Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig told that the Collectorate has placed complete focus on revenue generation by devising encouraging strategy. The Customs Collectorate Multan has surpassed all assigned targets of revenue due to their continuous efforts. Faisalabad Customs has planned aggressive strategy against smuggling in the jurisdiction and huge quantity of smuggled vehicles and goods were seized during different action.
The collector told that elimination of smuggling in the jurisdiction will promote legitimate trade and generate further revenue for the Collectorate. Collectorate has enhanced the surveillance at the Faisalabad International Airport and other suspected areas of the jurisdiction to thwart any smuggling attempt.
He expressed that Faisalabad Customs is focusing to promote their import clearances other than oil imports from Faisalabad Dry Port in order to generate more revenue.
Member Customs stressed that importers of Faisalabad Region may come up and start their imports from Faisalabad dry port and all necessary facilitation will be provided to them at their door steps.
