Meeting of all collectorates today to discuss amendments in WeBOC

KARACHI: The meeting of all collectorates including Model Customs Collectorate (MCC)-East, MCC-West, MCC-Bin Qasim and others is going to held today (Tuesday) at Customs House, Karachi to discuss in detail the improvements and amendments in WeBO.

Reliable sources told Customs Today that the process of making some amendments in WeBOC for the facilitation of importers and clearing agents is under way and a joint meeting of all collectorates in Karachi is scheduled today in this regard.

They further said that some technical amendments are going to be introduced in WeBOC system which will definitely be helpful for importers and Customs officials.

“More meetings are likely to take place in a week to give the final touch to the amendments made in WeBOC”, they added.

They further said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued clear directives to the officials concerned in order to finalise the amendments in the computerized system.

They further informed this scribe that the amendments will be finalised in a week.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Customs agents have already expressed their reservations regarding Risk Management System (RMS) and WeBOC.

It may be mentioned here that the Customs officials have already accepted some recommendations forwarded by Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) in the month of July and a 15-member committee headed by Project Director (PD) WeBOC Syed Tanveer Ahmed has also been constituted to redress the issues of Customs agents pertaining to the computerized system.

It may also be mentioned here that the Web Based One Customs (WeBOC) System was introduced in July 2012 and subsequently, the importers and clearing agents had faced difficulties in terms of filing their Goods Declaration (GDs).

The sources further informed that Pakistan Customs has decided to make some positive amendments in WeBOC to ensure provision of more facilities to the importers, clearing agents and other stakeholders.
