ISLAMABAD: In view of the current security situation in the country, Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has handed over 22 bullet proof jackets and guns to its security staff and Anti-Smuggling squad.
According to Customs House Office (CHO) Shahrukh Butt, Collector Dr. Arslan has ordered all the staff under BS-16 to wear proper uniform and also handed over eight Kalashnikovs and seven G-3 guns to its security and anti-smuggling staff. The ammunition has been given to security staff after overhauling.
Bullet proof jackets were confiscated and some of given jackets were made of ceramics material and others made of platinum. The CHO said this has happened first time in the history of the MCC Islamabad that a CHO has been hired for supervising the collectorate.
The CHO has arranged training of new recruited sepoys and old anti-smuggling staff by police academy of Rawat (Rawalpindi) where they were inculcated how to defend themselves. The customs security staff also learned new techniques in firing. The customs staff Islamabad also has provided new uniforms established a Dog Centre to stop smuggling of drugs at the Banazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad.
