LHC adjourns hearing of appeal against appointment of Mushtaq Sukhaira as FTO until Oct 5

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has adjourned an appeal filed against the appointment of former Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Sukhaira as Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) till October 5.

The counsel for appellant argued that appointment of the Mushtaq Sukhaira as Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) is the violation of Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Act.

He added that according to the law any government officer cannot be appointed on another seat within two years of retirement. After passing the certain period retired officer can be appointed at any government seat, he said.

He appealed before the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the appointment of Mushtaq Sukhaira as Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) is the violation of relevant laws, so the Lahore High Court (LHC) should stop Mushtaq Sukhair to perform functions as Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) and may declare his appointment as null and void.

After hearing arguments from appellant side, Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing of appeal till October 5. Court will hear same case on next date.
