LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on November 21 in case filed by advocate Baqir Hussain.
Justice Abid Ejaz Sheikh heard the case which is filed on the grounds that if commissioner Appeals of Inland Revenue is on leave then FBR should assign this charge to another officers instead a seat is vacant till expiry of leave of relevant Commissioner Appeals.
Appellant Baqir Hussain argued that due to long leave of commissioner appeals, Federal Board of Revenue verdicts are delayed.
Appellant argued that the right to appoint commissioner appeal is held by the chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The court may order to give this power of appointment to ministry of law instead of chairman FBR.
He further prayed that the charge of same post given to another officer who hear and decide the cases quickly filed by the taxpayer.
After hearing the arguments from appellant Lahore High Court (LHC) the court remarked that the appellant point is important and legal and court summoned the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Jahanzaib Khan on November 21 to explain his point of view.
