LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restrained Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal Member Chaudhary Anwarul Haq from performing his duties and sought a reply from the federal government and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) within two weeks in Ezis Engineering Company case.
Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case filed by the Ezis Engineering. During the hearing, counsel for the appellant argued that the federal government suspended IR Tribunal Member Anwarul Haq on June 2015 but he is still performing duties as a member in the tribunal.
He further said that the suspending order of the member was challenged in Supreme Court of Pakistan and one appeal was filed before the LHC but the courts did not issued stay order yet, besides this Anwarul Haq is not only performing his duties but also issuing court orders that is illegal. He added that the member passed a judicial order in appellant’s company case.
After hearing the case, the LHC has stopped the member from performing duty and order to compile all applications regarding suspension of Anwarul Haq case. The court also sought reply from the federal government and FBR in same case.
