NEW DELHI: Following up on the success of the Vibe X2 and a string of smartphones before it, Lenovo will launch a new entry-level smartphone to challenge the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note and the just-announced Yu Yureka from Micromax, it is learnt.
At the Consumer Electronics Show starting in Las Vegas from January 6, the Chinese company will announce a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410-based LTE device. The 4G phone will have an aggressive price point in the Rs 9,000 range as it is aimed at countering the Yu and Redmi Note. Both these phones are priced between Rs 8,990 and Rs 9,990.
The phone is expected to be launched in India soon after CES 2015 and could be available around the time when the Yureka Yu starts selling here.
Incidentally, Lenovo has already announced the 5-inch K3, which also has the same processor. This phone has a 5-inch HD OGS IPS capacitive multitouch screen and runs the Vibe UI based on Android OS 4.4.4. With a 8mp Sony IMX219 camera and a 2300mAh non-removable battery, this phone could become a hit at a Rs 9,000 price point.
