LAHORE: LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue its efforts for the solution of the problems being faced by businessmen dealing in paper and paperboard products.
LCCI President was speaking at 20th Annual General Meeting of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA). LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah, Vice President Kashif Anwar, former Advisor to Chief Minister Muhammad Ali Mian, MNA Waheed Alam Khan, Khalifa Abdul Majeed, leader of APPMA Businessmen Group Khamis Saeed Butt and more than 300 members of APPMA were present in the meeting.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mian Amjad Hussain President has been elected APPMA President, Ahad Ameen Malik Senior Vice Chairman, Imran Khalid Chaudhry Vice President, Aamir Sagheer Sheikh Secretary General, Muhammad Raza Joint Secretary, Shan Liaqat Finance Secretary while Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen has been elected honorary Senior Vice President of APPMA.
Engineer Sohail Lashari urged the newly-elected office-bearers of APPMA to forward their proposals to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry so that the issued being faced by them could be taken up with government circles concerned.
Speaking on the occasion, newly-elected office-bearers urged the government to help curtail import duty on paper and paperboard and it should be included in the category of semi-finished material for printing and packaging. They said that the government should allow duty-free import of paper used for printing of text books. They said that it would help the students to get text books on cheaper rates. At the end, shields were distributed amongst the participants.
