LAHORE: For the collective benefit of the business community and to tap EU potential of the GSP Plus status, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation is presently on a visit to Europe where a number of MoUs have been signed to market Pakistani merchandise in all 27 member countries of the European Union.
According to Acting LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah, the LCCI delegation, led by its President Sohail Lashari, held hosts of meetings with business leaders, signing several deals in the presence of a large number of European businessmen.
As per the MoUs, the EU companies will provide necessary data to Pakistani companies, besides helping them explore the available opportunities of exports.
Mian Misbah said that foreign tour was the part of LCCI efforts for availing maximum benefit of the GSP Plus status.
Appreciating the government efforts, he said that this opportunity could only be tapped if the business community was provided conducive atmosphere for fulfilling requirements of the GSP plus. He said that there was no doubt in it that the Punjab government was committed to create a congenial atmosphere for foreign investors but there was a need to make such efforts target-oriented for quick results.
He said that LCCI visit of EU countries would supplement government efforts aimed at progress and prosperity. He urged the government to maintain and show progress on the 27 conventions it has signed to qualify for GSP Plus to reap the benefits of this great opportunity that is to be reviewed after two years by an EU Commission.
