LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has urged the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to facilitate business community for acquisition of different types of International Certifications for exporting purposes.
In a statement, the LCCI President Malik Tahir Javed, Senior Vice President Khawaja Khawar Rasheed and Vice President Zeshan Khalil said that International Certifications are a must to win the European market but due to high cost, most of the businesses cannot afford it.
They said that Trade Development Authority (TDAP) must give a helping hand to the export-oriented industry to achieve the joint target of exports boosting. They said that exports are portraying a discouraging picture and country cannot afford to run with lowest exports. They said that TDAP have to provide maximum support and facilitation to the business community in its efforts to enhance exports.
They further stated that TDAP should evolve a strategy on strong basis to introduce Pakistani products to the international buyers as most of the countries have least information and material about Pakistani products. They said that TDAP should help businessmen, not only in achieving international certifications but in holding trade fairs & exhibitions in other countries so that new buyers can be found for Pakistani merchandise.
The LCCI office-bearers said that TDAP should also focus on value addition, products diversification and geographic diversification. They also urged the Ministry of Commerce to negotiate with other countries for reducing taxes and duties on Pakistani merchandise.
